Free Crochet Pattern for the Daydreamer Crochet Vest - Megmade with Love

****You can find the PDF version of this free pattern in my shop by clicking HERE. Great for easy printing!***

Today I bring you a brand-spankin' new pattern! An easy-going, airy vest that seriously looks great paired with any outfit. It features two stripes on the bottom for added detail, and is basically only made up of chains and double crochets, woot woot! πŸ‘πŸŽ‰

This vest was actually very much inspired by one I saw at Target awhile back, lol (thanks Target for being the best, always! πŸ˜‚). I think what makes it so great to me, is the simplicity of it. I'm a no-frills kinda gal, which makes it right up my alley. And the fringe is the perfect finishing touch if ya ask me.

Like I said, this vest pairs well with so many things. I plan on wearing it a lot over basic outfits like the one I'm pictured in. But it'd also be incredibly cute paired with a flowy dress.

The pattern is made up of three pieces: two front panels and one back panel. They all decrease at the top to create a "tank top" type of design. It's written for multiple sizes, so hopefully errbody and their dog will be able to sport their own Daydreamer Vest!

Assembly:

To assemble your vest, you'll take lay out your three pieces like in the photo below.. (forgive all my wild yarn ends!)

Crochet Vest - Megmade with Love

Place the back panel down first, right side up. Then put the two front panels on top of it, right sides down (meaning right sides are together). You'll align the front panels along the outer edges of the back panel, also aligning the tops of your front panels to the top outer edges of the back panel. You can pin them together now to help during sewing.

crochet vest Megmade with Love

It is very important to line up the rows of the front and back panels-- because you'll want your "stripes" to line up and also to help with sewing up to the correct row.

Next you're ready for sewing.. I used a whip stitch to seam up the pieces along the very edges. You'll sew up the two sides, starting at the bottom, using your yarn needle and long strand of yarn (remember to align rows!!) **up to row 50. You will also sew along the tops of the front panels, connecting them to the outer edges of the back panel.

Optional: if you wanted the edges to look extra tidy, you could sc around the entire outside perimeter of the vest. I chose not to do this because I thought it looked fine.. just thought I'd throw that out there!

Once your vest is seamed up, ends woven in, and if you'd prefer-- blocked... you've got your very own Daydreamer Vest!!

Daydreamer Crochet Vest Pattern - Megmade with Love

Go ahead and try it on and give it a good twirl... you know you wanna :)

Hope you love this design as much as I do! Even though it calls for such thin yarn, it actually isn't too slow to work up. Do please share with me over on Instagram if you make one yourself, I'd love, love, love to admire it.

Happy hooking!
Meg

Free Crochet Pattern for the Geometric Wall Hanging

geopin01.jpg

***You can find the PDF version of this pattern in my shop by clicking here. Great for easy printing!***

This week, I'm bringing yet another wall hanging with me to the blog.

(You can find my other free wall hanging pattern here)

It uses Lion Brand Wool-Ease and Hometown USA-- very chunky yarns, so it makes for a quick project. I love how cozy it looks! Plus the colors look awesome in my home. :)

h07.jpg

For this project, I also created my own "roving" using the yarn I already had. I've just seen so many beautiful wall hangings that feature roving, and thought it'd be a cool feature to add to this piece. I show you how to create the roving below.

h06.jpg

This one features a cool geometric pattern using only single crochets! So easy! I've also included a graph below if you may need more of a visual of how the shapes are worked.

What you'll need:
- Lion Brand Yarn Wool Ease Thick & Quick yarn in Black (B) and Oatmeal (O), Lion Brand Hometown USA in Little Rock Granite (G) (one skein each)
- size 9.0 MM hook or size to obtain gauge
- 16-18 inch stick, branch or wooden dowel
- large tapestry needle

Assembly
for the bottom fringe, cut 31 pieces of β€œO” ranging in size from 10-24 inches long --so they will taper down into the longest piece, which is 24 inches, in the middle

cut 31 pieces of β€œG” about 8 inches long

cut 4 pieces of β€œB” about 32 inches long

Next you will knot these pieces you cut onto the crocheted piece

To tie on the fringe pieces, fold your piece of yarn in half, and insert the folded side into the desired space on the crocheted piece, not pulling it all the way through (see pic below).

Then you take your two ends and pull them through your β€œloop” aka the folded end and pull tight.

For the β€œO” pieces, tie them onto the bottom row, tie the β€œG” pieces onto the bottom β€œG” row, and tie the β€œB” pieces onto under side of the bottom triangle in the middle.

Once all your pieces are knotted on, you can iron, steam or block the pieces to lay straight. Then cut  the ends to clean them up and make them look uniform.

For the roving, you will take 5 pieces of β€œO” cut at 32 inches long, and you will tie a knot at one end. Separate the strands in each piece of yarn then GENTLY brush all the pieces  together, starting at the opposite end of your knot (the ends), be careful not to brush too hard or the pieces will break. After the β€œroving” is complete, weave it in and out of the row above the bottom β€œG” row, going over two stitches at a time. Then you can untie your knot you made, and sew on the roving onto the back.

Last you will attach your piece to your stick or dowel. Using a long strand of β€œO” and tapestry needle, start by going in through the back of one side then over the stick, and back into the same spot you came through first. Then travel over about 5 stitches with your yarn and needle through the top row of the piece, and go over the stick again and come back through the same place you left off. Repeat this across the top of the piece to the other end.

After you’ve woven in your ends, your project is complete!

And that.... is how you make a super cool geo-wall hanging. Cozy and unique... and just awesome.

Hope you enjoyed this pattern, and if you make it feel free to tag me over on Instagram. I'd love to see!

Have a beautiful day :)
